Raymond W. Cohen - Chief Executive OfficerMr. Cohen joined Vessix as Chief Executive Officer in June 2010. He also serves as an advisor to Fjord Ventures, LLC., a life-science incubator located in Laguna Hills, CA and is a member of the Board of Directors of several public and private medical technology firms including; Syncroness, Inc., a privately-held engineering and product development firm where Mr. Cohen serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors, LoneStar Heart, Inc., (fka CardioPolymers, Inc.), a venture-backed developer of novel biotherapeutic therapies for congestive heart failure patients and BioLife Solutions, Inc. (BLFS) a manufacturer of cryopreservation products used for human cell and tissue preservation. From 2006-2010, Mr. Cohen served as CEO of CardioPolymers, Inc., and the previous decade as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Nasdaq listed Cardiac Science, Inc. In 2004, Cardiac Science was ranked as the 4th fastest growing technology company in North America on Deloitte and Touche's Fast 500 listing. In 2008, Mr. Cohen was named by AeA as the Private Company Life Science CEO of the Year. Mr. Cohen was named Entrepreneur of the Year in 2002 by the Orange County Business Journal and was a finalist for Ernst & Young's Entrepreneur of the Year in the medical company category in 2004. Mr. Cohen is a member of a number of local Southern California organizations, notably serves on the Advisory Council of Keck Graduate Institue, BioScience MBA program and OCTANe where he is a member of the Biomedical Leadership Council. Mr. Cohen is an Accredited Public Company Director and holds a B.S. in Business Management from Binghamton University in New York. Prabodh Mathur - Chief Product Development OfficerMr. Mathur joined Vessix in September 2010. Mr. Mathur is a seasoned technical executive with a proven track record of developing complex, innovative, Class III medical devices from concept, through design exploration, IP review, engineering, manufacturing transfer, regulatory clearance to market launch. Mr. Mathur held numerous engineering leadership positions, including chief technical officer, with Cardiac Science over a 15 year period until 2009. Earlier, Mr. Mathur was, for nine years, vice president of engineering of Medstone International, a manufacturer of transportable lithotripters. Over the past years, Mathur has been involved in developing products that include a catheter-based biopolymer delivery system, fully automatic public-access defibrillators, multi-parameter patient monitor, lithotripters, cryoablation delivery systems, and industrial high-power carbon dioxide laser and robotic system. Cumulative revenues from products designed under his leadership exceed $1 billion. Mr. Mathur holds a M.S. in Engineering from Missouri University of Science and Technology and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology in Kanpur, India. Dan L. Dearen - Chief Operating & Financial Officer
Mr. Dearen joined Vessix in 2010. For nearly 25 years, Mr. Dearen has been involved in the financial and strategic management of companies in the medical and technology industries. Prior to joining Vessix, Mr. Dearen served as CFO for Miraval Holding, Q3DM, Fairbanks Systems Group and Medication Delivery Devices. Previously, Mr. Dearen was a director for Ventana Growth Funds, an international venture capital firm with 53 portfolio companies in the medical device, biotechnology and healthcare service sectors. Mr. Dearen began his career as a CPA in the healthcare group for Ernst & Young. Mr. Dearen holds an MBA from Boston College and a BBA from Southern Methodist University.
Michael D. Gioffredi - Chief Commercialization OfficerMr. Gioffredi joined Vessix in April 2012. For over 25 years, Mr. Gioffredi has been a sales and marketing executive in the medical device industry. Prior to joining Vessix, and for the past 6 years, Mr. Gioffredi served as Sr. VP of Sales and Marketing for Angioscore, Inc, a manufacturer of balloon catheter technology for use in peripheral and coronary arteries. Previously, Mr. Gioffredi was the Chief Marketing Officer for Cardiac Science Inc., where he worked directly with Vessix's CEO to position the Company as the 4th fastest growing technology company in North America on Deloitte and Touche's Fast 500 listing. He began his career with Pfizer and spent ten years at Bard (USCI). Mr. Gioffredi holds an B.A. in Business Administration from California State University at Fullerton. Sharon Riddle - Senior Vice President, Market Development
Ms. Riddle joined Vessix in 2004 and has nearly 30 years of experience in the marketing and sales management of interventional cardiology devices. Ms. Riddle was most recently vice president of marketing for FeRx, Inc., a development stage life sciences company specializing in drug delivery systems for cancer therapeutics. She helped found and was vice president of international marketing and sales for Radiotherapeutics Corporation. As group marketing manager for Mallinckrodt Medical's Imaging Division, Ms. Riddle was responsible for the strategic alliance agreement that allowed entry into the peripheral marketplace. Ms. Riddle earned her BS in health sciences from San Jose State University. Michael Williamson, J.D. - General Counsel
Mr. Williamson joined Vessix as General Counsel in August 2011, having been an intellectual property advisor to the Company since early 2009. Prior to joining Vessix, Mr. Williamson advised companies including Cisco Systems on various matters including medical device intellectual property, legal transactions, regulatory, product development and operations. Previously, Mr. Williamson was employed by Cordis Corporation/Nitinol Devices and Components (NDC) first in manufacturing operations and engineering, later as a product development leader and ultimately as a Director responsible for business development support and the intellectual property portfolio management of several Cordis operating units including NDC, Connor MedSystems and Cordis Accelerated Medical Ventures. Mr. Williamson holds a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from Cal Poly San Luis Obsipo, and a Juris Doctor from the John F. Kennedy School of Law. Mr. Williamson is a member of the Bars in California, the US Patent Office and the District and Appellate Courts of the Federal 9th Circuit of Northern California. Henry Hauser - Vice President, Clinical Affairs
Mr. Hauser joined Vessix in March of 2012. Mr. Hauser has over 25 years of experience in medical devices and services, including 13 years of clinical research experience in therapeutic areas of cardiology and aesthetic medicine. Prior to joining Vessix, Mr. Hauser was Director of Clinical Affairs for Ulthera, Inc., an aesthetic medical device company where he was responsible for clinical trials (n=1100). Mr. Hauser has been responsible for running clinical pilot and pivotal studies in Europe and the US for early stage companies (Sub-Q, TherOx, and Rubicon) and larger organizations such as Boston Scientific. Mr. Hauser began his career and spent almost a decade in cardiac cath labs in southern California as a cardiovascular specialist responsible for performing over 3000 procedures per year. Mr. Hauser earned his Bachelors of Science in Radiology from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. Shawn Moaddeb - Vice President, RF TechnologyMr. Moaddeb joined Vessix in October 2011. Mr. Moaddeb's experience in the medical device field includes research and development, manufacturing engineering, global program management and business development. Prior to joining Vessix, Mr. Moaddeb was Program Director of Advanced R&D at Biosense Webster (Johnson & Johnson Company). Mr. Moaddeb holds over 65 issued and pending patents in area of cardiac ablation, implantable pacemaker and defibrillator leads, heart valve repair, GI, and spinal deformities. Mr. Moaddeb holds a Master Degree in Physics from Pittsburg State University. Meital Mazor, Ph.D. - Senior Director, Clinical Research
Dr. Mazor joined Vessix in 2008. For nearly 10 years, Dr. Mazor has been working in the field of vascular diseases and has gained experience in experimental designs and clinical studies. Prior to joining Vessix she led pre-clinical studies for Shire, a pharma company, where she focused on treatments chronic renal failure patients. Dr. Mazor received her Ph.D. in Medical Sciences as well as her MBA from from the Technion-Israel institute of technology. |
